Lord, ( Z @# n( G! X B9 x: @
having transformed" N7 h3 ~/ K. r6 g
sunshine and soil and water and seed,5 u4 U2 ]* S$ M, T0 T3 X& E) @
into food upon which we are soon to feed, & z& u: b' R" `4 o/ R4 c
we thank you for life and we want to stay well, & e% _2 Y1 I9 N2 }
so we promise to rub our hands with Purell.
& L0 t& \" i. CWe who came first and are ready to dine$ u! p0 x1 n5 |; U" ?# t2 O5 y* j
thank you that we’re not still waiting in line, 1 m# v9 Y9 b! r% C' r6 p0 r
but for those who are hungry and eagerly wait, 9 |% l. r5 [$ X( g
we shall not be greedy and heap up our plate.- l& g! c y) L
Instead we’ll be thoughtful of all the others
4 U# T% i; ]3 w9 b) K( Mthe way we were taught by our own loving mothers.

We smell the potatoes all spicy and roasted , j$ A \" |1 T& D
the aroma of casseroles perfectly toasted
